When I grow up I want to be like Claudia Heiss

Hi everyone! Today I will talk about someone who i admire so much!

Is important to consider that Political Science is a new field of study, which like the most of the sciences, involves a bigger number of men than women. In this sense, making one's way into this major means a great effort. 

Despite knowing this, there is one person who, from the very first moment, has made me feel that I am capable of anything: Claudia Heiss. She is the professor who leads the major at the university, an extremely intelligent and kind woman. Since the first year she has guided us to be the best, to achieve our goals and to love what we study, and that is why I admire her deeply. 

She has contributed mainly through her studies on political conflicts and political theory. This has resulted in multiple academic publications, international recognition and contributions to the Chilean government on conflict regulation in the country. Her most recent publication is her book "Why we need a new Constitution?", where she explained, from a historical and theoretical perspective, the importance of carrying out the realization of a new Constitution. 

However, to get there, Claudia Heiss went through a great academic journey. First, she studied journalism as a major at the University of Chile, and later obtained her Master's degree in Political Science at Columbia University. After that, she obtained her PhD in Political Science at the New School for Social Research and was president of the Chilean Association of Political Science.

She is currently a professor at the Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Chile, where she teaches political theory and is in charge of the major in Political Science.  

She is amazing!

    Hi Catalina, I hope you are feeling well.
    This semester I had the option to have classes with Claudia Heiss in the course of Study of Political Phenomena, of the Public Administration major. I really agree with you in thinking that she is an extraordinary professor, she has a lot of knowledge to give to her students and it is always a pleasure to listen and be in her classes.

    Like you, I also think that Claudia Heiss is an amazing professor. Just hearing one of her lectures, you can realize that she knows a lot! Also, when I had classes with her, she incorporated into the syllabus literature written by women that have been little studied only because of their gender and sex. Regards<3

    Undoubtedly, Professor Claudia Heiss is an admirable woman, I have not had the opportunity to take a course with her but many of my classmates have told me that she is an excellent teacher, I hope to meet her one day.

Hello, welcome to my new blog!      M y name is Catalina Valdés Blanchemin, I'm from Santiago, Chile and I was born on April 4th, 2001 (so, I'm only 20 years old). First of all, I want to talk a little bit about my family: I live with my parents and my older brother in a middle class house in La Florida.
