Why I choose my major

Hello everyone! Today I want to tell you how I decided to enter my current career. 

Since I was a little girl I loved to draw, that's why my family has encouraged me to exploit that talent. That's how, when I was 12 years old, I decided that I would dedicate myself to art. 

However, as I grew older, I became interested in history and politics. That is why, when I graduated from high school, I was quite confused about what I would decide to study. The art was in my mind, but I was interested in social movements and the human rigths.

I took a year to think things through, so, I studied and educated myself a lot about the Social Sciences, so I considered studying Law, Political Science or International Studies. 

Finally, after knowing my results of the university admission test, I entered to study Political Science at the University of Chile. I really feel very passionate about what I study now, I do not regret the decisions I have made in my life. It is the perfect area for me, because I have learned to see how governments work and in what ways I can contribute to society.

Within the career I have realized that I would love to specialize in feminism and gender, but I am also very attracted to international relations. Maybe, in the future, I could work in UN women, because it is the job that mixes everything I like.

    Hi Catalina, it’s wonderful to read that you were able to make it into the major that you love and are passionate about! How did you decide which major you like the most? I’m also very interested into the topics of feminism and gender, I wish we could talk someday and see each other in college, so I could also see your art <3.

Hello, welcome to my new blog!      M y name is Catalina Valdés Blanchemin, I'm from Santiago, Chile and I was born on April 4th, 2001 (so, I'm only 20 years old). First of all, I want to talk a little bit about my family: I live with my parents and my older brother in a middle class house in La Florida. I've always thought that makes us a very regular family, because we fit perfectly into the prototype of four members and a very old dog. Now then, I'll tell you a little bit about my life.
